More than a thousand people participated in a day of scientific dissemination with talks, interactive activities and astronomical experiences for the whole family, in an initiative that brought the Universe closer to the community.
With great enthusiasm, the families of Padre Hurtado participated in a true astronomical party organized by the Astroamigos Wintata Wara Club in conjunction with the Municipality of Padre Hurtado. The activity included exhibitions, workshops and various experiences designed to bring the universe closer to neighbors of all ages.
The event was attended by the Center for Astrophysics and Related Technologies – CATA, which joined this important educational event with an interactive stand. Those attending the event learned more about the history of the Universe, the formation of planets and the existence of black holes, in addition to enjoying recreational activities such as a mobile planetarium, observation of the Moon, rocket building by children, and the award for the solar system most applauded by the public.
CATA’s stand offered an immersive experience about the Moon, addressing topics such as its formation, the structure of its craters and its role in the development of life on Earth. The presentations were given by José Utreras, in charge of Outreach Content, and Tracy Catalán, coordinator of the Outreach area. In addition, the children participated enthusiastically in the creation of astronomical badges, taking home a souvenir of their experience.
This initiative sought to generate a neighborhood intervention in the El Manzano esplanade, promoting the dissemination of science and fostering interest in scientific knowledge in the community.
More than a thousand people attended this event despite the cold afternoon, which included workshops, information stands and scientific exhibits, consolidating an unforgettable day for the families of Padre Hurtado and reinforcing the Institution’s commitment to bring science closer to the public.
