Supermassive Black Holes and Energetic Phenomena
I'm a theoretical/numerical astrophysicist. My main scientific interests are various kinetic processes in astrophysical plasmas and their observational signatures. I'm particularly interested in the phenomenon of particle acceleration (or how "cosmic rays" attain their tremendous energies). My favorite astrophysical systems are galaxy clusters, accretion disks around black holes, and the corona of the sun, where a lot of exciting kinetic plasma phenomena take place.
Lately, I've also become interested in gamma-ray astronomy, as a way to probe cosmic ray acceleration in extreme astrophysical environments. I'm currently a member of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO) Consortium and the Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory (SWGO) Collaboration.
