Patricia Tissera makes her first protocol visit as Director of CATA

The new authority of the Center for Astrophysics and Related Technologies met with authorities and researchers at the University of Concepción, strengthening the institutional articulation of the Center in the Biobío region.

The recently appointed Director of the Center for Astrophysics and Related Technologies (CATA), Patricia Tissera, made her first protocol visit to the Biobío region, with the aim of strengthening the link between the Center and the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) as a CATA institution.

Accompanied by the Center’s General Manager, Elise Servajean, the Director held an agenda of meetings with university authorities, associated researchers and members of the Center for Astronomical Instrumentation (CePIA), reaffirming her commitment to collaborative work and strengthening the community.

Upon her arrival, Tissera was received by CATA’s principal researcher and UdeC academic, Amelia Stutz, who accompanied the authorities in a meeting with the Vice Rector for Research and Development of the Universidad de Concepción, Andrea Rodríguez. During the meeting, Tissera highlighted the constructive nature of the meeting: “This meeting was very positive and collaborative. We addressed strategic issues to strengthen the link between CATA and the University of Concepción, in order to maintain a fluid dialogue that benefits our entire scientific community,” he said.

Vice-Chancellor Rodriguez valued the meeting as a key step in consolidating joint work: “The meeting allowed us to meet the new Director of the Center and discuss its projection. We will continue to support CATA’s initiatives and highlight the good results it has achieved so far,” she said.

The agenda continued with a visit to the CePIA facilities, a center led by Rodrigo Reeves, also a CATA associate researcher. There, the authorities learned first-hand about the advances in astronomical instrument development and technology transfer promoted by CATA and UdeC. “This type of event is essential to consolidate the collaborative ecosystem that we want to promote from the direction of the Center,” said Tissera.

The tour concluded with a meeting with astronomers, all of them astronomers, researchers from the Department of Astronomy of the UdeC and CATA associates, who shared advances, challenges and proposals to continue strengthening the joint work. “I especially appreciate the interest in actively contributing to the development of the Center and the willingness to collaborate in cross-cutting initiatives that integrate science and technology,” said the Director.

At the end of the day, Patricia Tissera valued this first institutional visit: “It was a very significant experience. It allowed me to meet directly with the CATA community at UdeC, share the vision we want to project for the future and gather valuable contributions, ideas and proposals to continue strengthening our mission,” she concluded.
