Antonela Monachesi

My main line of research is the formation and evolution of galaxies in the Local Universe focusing on the resolved stellar populations of nearby galaxies, and in particular the stellar halos of galaxies. This galactic component provides key information about the hierarchical growth of galaxies. I am also interested in studying galaxies in compact groups and large clusters to better understand how the environment plays a role in their evolution. In my research, I combine observations from ground and space-based telescopes with state-of-the-art simulations.
